Even in heaven they don't sing all the time ' (from album track 'The World Is') The soundtrack aesthetic has been somewhat plundered over the last few years, but there are still programmers that can take its open-ended possibilities and achieve new license. Welcome to Unforscene. 'Pacific Heights', Unforscene's debut album, was released back in the Winter of 2001. Praise was high? 'building intricately intertwined sounds into gently bubbling cinematics, Unforscene have created nothing less than an enigmatic minor classic? iDJ 'an excellent, imaginative debut? Maxim 'a duo with an ear to the past but a steady eye on the future: backward leaning but, but still proceeding. Good stuff.' Sunday Times Irony often seems locked out of 'dance' music (discounting Matthew Herbert of course), but there is a Bristolian dryness (their adopted home town) here that works like a dream. The continuing rumble of Rhodes is the link that leads them through the crowded streets, collecting converts along the way. One of the album's highlights, 'The World is..' is a spoken word gem with a vocal from Laurel Leflow (in the style of Ursula Rucker). Wait for the moment of resuscitation half way down the line. A masterly touch indeed. Other guests include Hazel Jayne (smith & mighty/suv) on Tryin? - a soulful spooning that never gets sugary. Then we have ESP literally dropping lyrical bombs. Ben describes the finale 5AM Shutdown as 'miners coming up from a night down the pit... a blinking, befuddled entrance to a new day. Unforscene are currently remixing a track from the Withnail & I soundtrack. This makes perfect sense. Two rag tag bods trying to make sense of the world (but with a broad grin on the their collective faces). www.unforscene.co.uk'

"If there's been a better reason to upgrade your hi-fi/headphones recently, we've not heard it?.ridiculously lush jazz melodies?thick-necked hip-hop breaks...Simple, sure and wonderfully effective 6/10" - Rob Fitzpatrick NME

"Downtempo electronica - all fluff and brainless chillout?. Not necessarily?Unforscene's excellent second album?a soundtrack to our brave new world where we can wage a war against abstract nouns and be expected to swallow doublethink which would have shamed Orwell?; the beat poetryof Laurel Leflow grabs your attention like a punch in the eye on The World Is, while throughout there are more than a few hints that tongues are never far out of cheeks.. Welcome to the new world disorder" - Ally Fog Big Issue

"?a sleek and subtle sinuous design, stacking deep house, drum'n'bass, creamy soul and jazz and Latin-fleckled electronica... Sophisticated yet far from being superficial, languid without being lazy, this is a widescreen, downtempo dream" - Sharon Connell Time Out

"?.sumptuous." 4 out of 5. - Darren Wall Update

?New World Disorder? takes the deep, cinematic lead from their debut and moves it on with the addition of some guest vocalists and a newly formed thirst for the dancefloor. The LPs crowning glory is ?The World Is?, in a nutshell combining all that Unforscene is about?.. laid over a sinewy building funk bubbler that Lalo Schifrin would be proud of?. - Steve Nickolls DJ

"Beautifully crafted?its clear that Unforscene are among the most cinematic, and coherent of two man orchestra" - Ben East iDJ

FEATURE / INTERVIEW. "Pacific Heights', released in 2001, was one of the best downtempo albums of the last few years - a sleepy but never comatose mix of chunky beats, intricate instrumentation, wonderous cinematics and carefully chosen spoken samples. ..Listening to the 'New World Disorder' you feel that they're on the verge of something big" - Matt Anniss iDJ
